Court Hearings and Legal Research at Bapas and HHL
- Role
- Legal Research Intern, then Legal Staff
- Organization
- Balai Pemasyarakatan Kelas IA Surabaya & HHL Associates Attorney At Law
- Period
- 2024–2025
Story
My first placement was at Balai Pemasyarakatan (Bapas) Kelas IA Surabaya, the correctional centre that supports the criminal justice process. A year later I joined HHL Associates, a law firm handling civil and corporate matters.
In both places the work came down to the same things: knowing the applicable rules, preparing documents carefully, and seeing how cases actually unfold in the courtroom and in mediation.
As a Legal Research Intern at Bapas (June–July 2024) and later as Legal Staff at HHL Associates (February–July 2025), I researched the law, helped prepare case documents and attended hearings and mediation sessions.
